Secrets Never Die by the same author is on my top of my to be read lists. I figured it will be better to read the first book in the series as I already had it on my Kindle. So here’s my take on it.
Morgan Dane has been widowed for two years and has 3 adorable small children, who she parents with the help of her father. But now she decides it’s time for her to go back to work as a prosecutor. Just as she’s about to start her baby sitter is horrifically murdered and her neighbour’s son is accused of the slaying. Morgan doesn’t buy it. So with the help of her private investigator and former high school boyfriend Lance, she decides to take up his defence to get her client off and find the real killer.
Morgan as a character is an identifiable figure – a single mother trying to do the best for her children and now juggling a stressful job. The story itself does put you on edge quite a few times with its twists and some unpredictable turns. Morgan and Lance has a great partnership and you enjoy their easy chemistry. The murder case itself, although interesting to follow, is kinda predictable but doesn’t take the fun away from it. Say You’re Sorry captivated me from page one as you witness the murder first hand, and doesn’t let you off the hook till the last page.
Pros: Storyline, writing
Cons: flat characterization, pace
Bibliogyan Verdict: A good beginning to a new series
